WhatsApp reaches customers on the messenger they use every day. Connecting it goes through the WhatsApp Business API, so it needs a business account and an approved phone number.
What you need#
- A Meta / Facebook Business account.
- A WhatsApp Business account with a phone number that isn't already tied to a personal WhatsApp app.
- Access to that account's API credentials.
Connecting WhatsApp#
Open the WhatsApp card
On your bot's Deploy tab, find the WhatsApp channel card and start setup.Provide your Business API credentials
Enter the details from your WhatsApp Business account to link the number to this bot.Save & verify
Once connected, the card shows Connected and the bot replies to messages sent to your WhatsApp number.
Approval takes time
Meta reviews business accounts and phone numbers before they can send messages at scale. Plan for that lead time when you schedule a WhatsApp launch.Status & disconnecting#
Like every channel, the WhatsApp card shows Connected, Not set up or Error. Disconnect from the card to stop serving WhatsApp; your bot, knowledge and history stay intact, and you can reconnect later.
